Dental Reimbursement Program - Title: FY 2023 RWHAP Part F Dental Reimbursement Program The FY 2023 RWHAP Part F Dental Reimbursement Program (DRP) at Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine (CDM) aims to improve access to oral health care services for low income, uninsured, and underserved people with HIV and trains dental students to deliver high-quality dental care to people with HIV. The CDM is determined to bridge the oral health care equity gap in underserved communities in Southern California. Dental students, faculty, and staff provide humanistic and evidence-based oral health care services that integrates the patient’s needs and preferences, the clinician’s expertise, and the most current, clinically relevant evidence at The Dental Center (TDC) in Pomona, California. The DRP provides education and training related to delivery of dental care to people with HIV and oral manifestations of HIV. The DRP also provides didactic instruction on prescribing opioids, managing acute dental pain, opioid use disorder, and substance use disorder. The DRP defrays a portion of unreimbursed dental care costs incurred by treating low income, uninsured, and underserved people with HIV at Western University of Health Sciences CDM. The total unreimbursed costs of oral health care provided to people with HIV from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2022, was $3026.
