The Brighton Park Drug Free Community Coalition services Brighton Park Community, IL, an urban area with a population of 45,440.
The goals of the Coalition are: (1) establish and strengthen collaboration among Brighton Park Drug Free Community Coalition's partner organizations in support of the community's effort to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth; and (2) reduce substance abuse among youth in Brighton Park, IL, and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the issues in our community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.
The Coalition will achieve its goals by implementing these strategies:
(1) Increase accountability among liquor license holders/merchants to prevent liquor sales to minors.
(2) Advocate for system change at the school level.
(3) Form at least five block clubs in the neighborhood.
