The Cinco de May con Orgullo Coalition will mentor the San Diego Military Family Coalition and assist them in applying for future Drug-Free Communities Support Program funding. The Mentor coalition will implement the following strategies: assessing organizational management; recruiting sector representatives; monitoring emerging substance abuse trends and supporting current prevention activities; supporting the creation of an action plan that will increase participation; promoting cultural competence and developing leadership skills; and strengthening mentee coalition members' ability to understand relationships between root causes and substance use in military communities.
