The Coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies: conduct workshops seminars and activities designed to increase the skills of participants, members and staff; collaboration and coordination with community members, agencies, organizations, law enforcement, government, and other entities; advocacy and coordination for stronger enforcement of existing youth alcohol laws (minors in possession, sales to minors, providing alcohol to a minor, Social Host Ordinances); advocacy and coordination to increase enforcement efforts; shoulder taps, as well as, prevention of alcohol license transfers or new licenses; develop and strengthen enforcement of ATOD policies at schools; work with the media to increase awareness of the 4th degree felony and social host laws and publicizing consequences for breaking ATOD laws; and creating opportunities to support people to participate in activities that reduce risk or enhance protection.
