The Coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies: enhance the collaborative skills of coalition members and community partners through trainings and other educational opportunities; provide information to the community about local prevention efforts and substance use data; create opportunities for youth involvement in the coalition's initiatives; implementation of alcohol compliance checks; development of a comprehensive media campaign to strengthen social host laws; work to decrease alcohol advertising in the community; provide early intervention programs for youth and families; provide prevention education and skills to youth in schools; provide prevention education and skills to families through the Strengthening Families program; create opportunities and provide support for youth to participate in alternative activities; and implement comprehensive media campaigns designed to provide information and messaging around the dangers of substance abuse.
