The Coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies: attending trainings on coalition building; collaborative leadership; use of social media and messaging to reach youth and community members; collaborating with community organizations having similar missions and purpose; reducing underage drinking through providing separate seminars for parents, community members and youth on risks/harms of underage drinking and strategies for parent/youth communication; reducing marijuana use among youth by providing separate seminars for parents, community members and youth on risks/harms of marijuana use and strategies for parent/youth communication; and reducing access and enhancing barriers by providing information and setting up checkpoints for underage intoxication when crossing the border from Mexico to U.S. and by stricter enforcement of curfew law.
