The coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies: Create a media campaign to increase parent and community awareness of the region's youth substance abuse problems, possible solutions, value of collaborative approach to solutions; reduce youth access to Alcohol, Tobacco, Marijuana, Prescription Drugs and OTC by advocating for Social Host ordinances, Responsible Beverage Sales and Service ordinance, Tobacco Retailers ordinance, alcohol, tobacco and drug free venues and smokefree and alcohol free parks; reduce permissive media messages and business policies and practices towards substance use; and reduce access to drug paraphernalia and drug related merchandise through a change in vendor and business policies.
