Drug Free Community Coalition STOP Act Project - The Decatur Drug Free Community Coalition project will promote community collaboration and implement population-based strategies to prevent and reduce alcohol use among youth in the Decatur, Macon County, IL community. Our primary goals of "increasing community collaboration" and "preventing/reducing youth alcohol use", are aligned with the Surgeon General's Call to Action. The primary objective "to decrease access to alcohol for youth in the community" will be accomplished through media/communication campaigns, compliance checks, server training, sticker shock, peer education and youth prevention education. We expect to reach Decatur residents through our Media/Communication Campaign to prevent Underage Drinking (targeting youth, parents, & community). Project Sticker Shock (an annual event) will be implemented in at least 25% of retail outlets each year. Youth will work in leadership roles with either our peer education program, media/communication campaigns , or sticker shock. Sellers and servers in the target area will be trained and alcohol compliance checks will be conducted with at least 15% of liquor licensees each quarter. Youth grades 6-12 will be reached using the Project Northland and Class Action Curriculum each year.
