Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition - The Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition (RCADC) serves Roane County, Tennessee an area with a population of 54,181. The goal of the Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking Act is to prevent and reduce alcohol use among youth age 12-20. This program will establish the prevention of underage drinking as a priority issue in each area of the Roane County community. The program will focus on cultural competency while enhancing intergovernmental cooperation and coordination on the issue of alcohol use among youth. By targeting each town across the county, we will strengthen collaboration among our local governmental agencies by implementing the following strategies: 1. Form a local strategy team and assess the community. A core prevention committee will be formed in each city within the county. 2. Recruit residents to participate in the development of strategies that reduce underage drinking and its consequences within each city. 3. Select alcohol policy and enforcement targets. Each prevention committee will develop an Action Plan to reduce underage drinking in their community. 4. Mobilize citizens of the community to implement strategies. 5. Work with Roane State Community College on prevention of underage drinking and offer education on the consequences of providing alcohol to minors. 6. Collaborate with local businesses and the Tennessee National Guard to reach young adults who are not enrolled in college. 7. Increase participation in Positive Peer Pressure (P3) clubs across the county. P3 clubs have been established in each high school and middle school in the county to provide education and alternatives for youth through social norms campaigns and youth leadership opportunities. 8. Celebrate Recovery efforts will be introduced in each jurisdiction.
