The coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies: (1) Enhancing the membership and leadership skills of the Task Force through training and creation of an internal structure plan, a membership plan and a sustainability plan. (2) Providing information to Task Force members and community partners through English and Spanish articles, an annual report, and social media channels. (3) Enhancing the skills of coalition members to collect and analyze community data related to underage drinking and youth prescription drug use. (4) Providing information to parents in English and Spanish through a booklet and Town Hall meeting. (5) Increasing the skills of faith-based leaders to include environmental prevention strategies to reduce underage drinking in their faith communities/culture. (6) Modifying/enhancing law enforcement policies and practices to effectively enforce social host laws. (7) Increasing public recognition of social host policies and related consequences. (8) Increasing the number of municipalities with a model social host ordinance. (9) Modifying/enhancing law enforcement policies and practices to effectively implement alcohol compliance checks. (10) Enhancing barriers to retail access of alcohol by minors. (11) Enhancing skills of youth workers to provide accurate information and strategies regarding youth prescription drug abuse to youth in Lake County. (12) Increasing the physical locations of prescription drug collection receptacles to reflect population density in Lake County. (13) Reducing the barriers to prescription drug disposal by Lake County municipalities.
