The coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies: (1) Establish a deemed approved ordinance that permits "public nuisance standards" that pre-existing retailers must abide by in order to maintain their permit. (2) Establish a culturally competent Social Host educational campaign for youth, residents, and property owners in order to increase awareness about the ordinance and efforts to prevent underage drinking and associated problems and consequences. (3) Establish at least three drug free zones within targeted areas in the community that can prevent illegal drug dealing within 1000 feet of where youth congregate. (4) Strengthen Coalition collaborations with youth, community members, and PYFMP Community Board Members in order to establish long-term environmental change. (5) Continue to assess community alcohol and other drug problem environments such as overconcentration of alcohol outlets, growing number marijuana dispensaries near schools, smoke shops that sell illegal drug paraphernalia and illegal sales of inhalant products to minors, as well as graffiti products sold at local stores. (6) Mobilize and organize Coalition members to advocate for environmental community change.
