Coalition for Gang Awareness and Prevention (CGAP) - The coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by the following strategies: working to strengthen and develop the coalition by operating under a comprehensive strategic plan, seeking sustaining funding, conducting community outreach to recruit new members, presenting education information to the community, coordinating training and other activities with neighboring Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grantees, and providing capacity-building trainings for coalition members, coalition staff, school staff, and staff of partner organizations; working with other DFC grantees to update a more effective countywide social host ordinance; working with the Mendocino County Opioid Abuse Coalition to effect changes in the prescribing and safe use and disposal of prescription drugs; host community forums on marijuana use, prescription drug use, and binge drinking; conduct a school climate assessment and school climate improvement plan; work with schools and other partners to provide prevention education in middle and high schools; and work with neighboring DFC grantees to identify and adapt a marijuana prevention curriculum that is specific to communities facing marijuana legalization.
