The Coalition will prevent and reduce youth substance use by implementing the following strategies: provide ongoing support, professional development, training and technical assistance to coalition members; conduct an annual review of the coalition's mission and vision statements and action plan; identify/secure internal and external resources to sustain the DFC project beyond the federal funding cycle; provide youth (ages 12-18), parents, school staff and other Isaac community members with pertinent and up-to-date information regarding the harmful effects of underage drinking and marijuana use; enhance youth resiliency skills along with the skills of staff and coalition members in serving youth and families in the Isaac community; provide support and opportunities for prosocial development to youth and their families in the Isaac community; change consequences (incentives/disincentives) for vendors distributing alcohol in the Isaac community; and modify/change policies of the coalition and youth-serving agencies in the Isaac community to facilitate prevention/reduction of youth alcohol and marijuana use.
