The New York Peer Network for Recovery and Resiliency - Families Together New York, the National Alliance of Methadone Advocates, and the Mental Health Empowerment Project will build a new collaborative effort, the New York Peer Network for Recovery and Resiliency, designed to improve behavioral health outcomes for persons in recovery from serious mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and children and youth with significant behavioral health challenges and their families. The collaborative will conduct peer workforce cross-training, joint events, leadership, and policy development efforts to develop its strategic plan. The project objectives are to increase knowledge about (1) trauma and its impact, (2) peer empowerment and engagement, mental health and addictions recovery and the four dimensions of recovery, and (3) the benefit of working with the whole family, including parents and caregivers, taking a comprehensive view of the support needs of the child, youth, and family to achieve better outcomes.
