The Clark County School District (CCSD) requests funding in the amount of $50,000.00 per year, for two (2) years, for a total of $100,000.00 to implement CCSD- Project AWARE. This project will train 1,600 local adults in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA). These adults will be trained to detect and respond to mental illness in adolescents and to encourage these youth and their families to seek treatment. The goals set forth in CCSD's Project AWARE are to initiate the YMHFA training of school personnel and other adults who interact with youth to detect and respond to mental illness in school age children, and to encourage these youth and their families to seek treatment. CCSD has developed a plan to contract for YMHFA training, track YMHFA Instructor certification, establish a cadre of YMHFA Instructors, and track ongoing training for CCSD.
