Mental Health in Education Project - Mendocino County Office of Education's Mental Health in Education Project (MHEP) will promote mental health awareness and literacy to Mendocino County's students and school districts by training school personnel, community agencies, and other service providers working with school-aged youth in Mental Health First Aid. MCOE will expand mental health awareness and assistance to K - 12 students by providing Mental Health First Aid trainings to teachers, administrators, counselors and other school staff as well as community agencies who work with school-aged youth. Trainings will be offered at MCOE, but can also be conducted on school and agency sites to maximize outreach efforts. MCOE will also collaborate with community partners on other prevention activities such as a teen awareness fair to further promote mental health awareness in youth. MCOE' s goal is to train at least 6 Youth Mental Health First Aid instructors who will train 250 people in the community in Mental Health First Aid, and thus increase much-needed mental health literacy, awareness, support, and access to mental health services in the community.
