Circle of Care Grant for Tohono O'odham Nation - Tohono O'odham Community College is submitting an application for a Circles of Care grant to design a comprehensive system for mental health services for children in collaboration with the Tohono O'odham Nation Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will facilitate the design of a system to serve the children, ages 0 to 24, who live in the 63 remote communities in the eleven districts that comprise the Tohono O'odham Nation. Mental health services currently provided are not fully coordinated, and there are few mechanisms in place to ensure follow-through and on-going assessment for children and youth who enter the system. The project will include the TODHHS Divisions of Behavioral Health, Special Needs, Child Welfare, and Community Health; the Juvenile Detention Center; Juvenile Probation; the State-funded public school system; the Indian Health Service; and the few private providers that serve the Tohono O'odham Nation.
