STATEWIDE FAMILY NETWORK GRANT FOR NEW YORK (SWFN-NYS) - Families Together in New York State, Inc. (Families Together), a statewide, family controlled non-profit organization as defined by SAMHSA, proposes to enhance and improve upon New York State's child-serving system infrastructure to be more oriented to the needs of youth with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and their families. These program goals will be achieved by expanding the work of Families Together at the state level and by strengthening Families Together's ten regional chapter organizations. Families Together will collaborate with policymakers and providers in service systems to promote family driven and youth-guided practices. Families Together will also work to increase family empowerment and self-efficacy; increase youth participation and youth leadership; and promote a general increase in the awareness of children's mental health. While meeting these objectives, over 30,000 people will be served annually by the SWFN-NYS. Some will be engaged through more intensive methods such as direct technical assistance, information and referrals, conferences, forums; others will be impacted via mass outreach such as website visits, newsletter mailings, and listserv messages.
