By September 2012, MCICC partners will have implemented a certified EHR system that captures and shares a continuity of care record for up to 260 participants enrolled in the SAMHSA-funded cooperative each year. In addition, partners will connect with and participate in at least one Health Information Exchange, including the Trenton Health Team (THT) HIE. THT is a local non-profit established to address documented needs for improved communication between the city's health care providers. MCICC will partner with THT in its process of establishing a Health Information Exchange for the greater Trenton area. MCICC will contract with an IT Project Manager to coordinate and oversee the system integration and HIE project. All behavioral health agencies will commit IT and program staff time to oversee and coordinate implementation of EHR upgrades and connections with the HIE. Henry J. Austin will serve as contact point between MCICC and THT and will work with the IT Program Manager, other technical support providers and program partners to ensure that its EHR system can capture behavioral health information as needed. With assistance of BluePrint Health IT, THT will pilot a Trenton area Health Information Exchange by October 2011, and incorporate MCICC Behavioral Health partners into the HIE beginning of April 2012.
