The overall project goal is to improve the health and well-being of consumers with severe mental illness by expanding and enhancing our use of an ARRA Certified interoperable electronic health record so that we can more quickly identify and treat both behavioral health and primary care problems within our integrated care program. This will be accomplished by enhancing the skills of existing staff, enhancing our telecommunications infrastructure, installing a bi-directional e-prescribing solution and installing other ARRA components into our EMR. Strategies/Interventions: We will train existing IT staff in SQL formula development; increase the use of the available functionalities within our upgraded EMR; add electronic signature capability; replace our current stand-alone electronic prescribing solution with one that has bidirectional interfacing capabilities and Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE); train medical staff on the use of the new e-prescribing system; develop Ohio Board of Pharmacy compliant policies and procedures; generate reports to inform and guide clinical care; install and activate a system for transfer of data to the HIE and be actively involved with our designated Regional Extension Center.
