This project -Improve Early Detection and Training for Child Mental Health Services in Maine - expands Spunvink Services' vast knowledge and current work with Maine children with autism. The funded initiative will provide training and consultation for a select group of licensed and certified professionals to work with parents, families and caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder. The training will be centered around evidenced-based intervention techniques for a select cross-section of licensed and certified professionals who typically work with youngsters with autism: social workers, special educators, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists and psychologists. After receiving training, these professionals will form a consultation and training group and then offer community training and psycho-educational workshops. The overall goal is to improve Spunvink Services' own practices and to educate other service providers and increase the quality of care for all clients.
