Operation of state reinsurance program pursuant to terms of Section 1332 waiver granted by CMS and Treasury Department in 2020 as well as Montana Reinsurance Act set forth at Montana Code Annotated Title 33 Chapter 22 Part 13. The reinsurance program reimburses health insurance exchange insurers for certain high cost claims in the individual health insurance market using a mix of federal pass through funding and association member assessments. Individual health insurers are reimbursed for a proportion of the cost of certain high cost claimants between a minimum lower bound and a maximum upper bound.
