Be Curious, Not Judgmental: The 4th National Symposium on Sexual Behavior of Youth - Project Summary / Abstract As the recognition of the prevalence and impact of problematic and harmful sexual behavior (PHSB) of youth grows, so has the scientific endeavors to address the topic with findings supporting efficacious early interventions (Borduin et al., 2021; St. Amand et al., 2008), child sexual abuse prevention programs (Assini-Meytin et al., 2020; Letourneau et al., 2021; Shields et al., 2020), and policy change (Kelley et al., 2019). Unfortunately, prevalent myths related to understanding PHSB hinder effective prevention and response. To address these myths and enhance scientist-practitioner partnership, this proposal is designed to meet the following scientific, diversity, and educational aims within the 4th National Symposium on Sexual Behavior of Youth: Be Curious, Not Judgmental to be held at Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel and Conference Center, Norman, OK. February 25-27, 2025. The meeting provides a forum for 1) lead researchers and experts in the field of sexual behavior of youth to share latest outcomes, 2) dissemination of research and resources to promote culturally responsive care and reduce disparities, 3) collegial, highly interactive opportunities for students and postdoctoral fellows to present their research and enhance their communication skills through oral and poster presentations, and 4) networking and mentorship to promote professional and career development of women and underrepresented professionals. NSSBY is unique, as no other national conference provides comprehensive coverage of sexual behavior of youth and at the same time retains the openness and promotion of close interactions among participants characteristic of a medium-sized conference. The confirmed speakers represent several of the leading experts in their fields and are associated with many of the prominent research and academic institutions from around the world. The agenda will include six daylong seminars, 36 concurrent workshops, welcome plenary, the Dr. Mark Chaffin Research luncheon, three breakfast networking meetings, poster session and welcoming reception. To heighten participant voice, the agenda will also feature plenary level panels from our Youth Partnership Board and Caregiver Partnership Board members. The meeting will target approximately 325- 400 attendees from academia, government, and private agencies. The grant funds will support scholarships for students (11) and underrepresented professionals (7) with hotel support awards that will be granted to participants based on scientific merit.
