Hematologic Malignancies - The FASEB Scientific Research Conference on Hematologic Malignancies plays a key role in the professional and career development of the next generation of leaders in our field. Since its inception in 1995, this meeting has had a strong tradition of exceptional scientific programming, abundant opportunities for networking, and high-quality career development activities for our trainees. A critical feature of this meeting is the presentation of high-impact unpublished work in a setting that promotes discussion and sparks collaboration. The program reflects the full breadth of research in the field, spanning stem and progenitor dysregulation, premalignant hematopoiesis, molecular pathogenesis, immune and microenvironmental regulation, and therapeutics. The work of early career scientists is showcased throughout the meeting through lightning talks, poster sessions, and short talks selected from the abstracts. This meeting offers formal opportunities for mentorship through interactive panel discussions, meet the experts’ sessions, and numerous informal opportunities over shared meals and activities. The Aims of this proposal are to (1) develop a conference program that highlights the most innovative and impactful science in hematologic malignancies, (2) to catalyze scientific interactions and exchange of ideas during and between scientific sessions, and (3) to provide early career scientists with opportunities to present and discuss their research, network, and foster their career development. The sole budgetary request in this R13 application is for 50% support of the registration and housing costs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who will present oral or poster presentations at this conference. Funding of this application will ensure that early career scientists, who play a key role in its vibrancy, are able to attend.
