Malaria: Mechanisms of Immunity & Protection - ABSTRACT Support is requested for a Keystone Symposia conference entitled Malaria: Mechanisms of Immunity & Protection, organized by Drs. Silvia Portugal, Marion Pepper and Melissa Chola Kapulu, with scientific programming input from Keystone Symposia. The meeting will take place March 30–April 2, 2025 at the Eldorado Hotel & Spa in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Progress against malaria remains a worldwide challenge, and a renewed combination of innovative approaches, including novel research and implementation strategies, are needed to tackle this global health problem. This Keystone Symposia conference will highlight emerging scientific discoveries, methods development and clinical practice approaches to empower research. Specifically, the program will review central immunologic principles to combat malaria by integrating mechanistic and clinical research advances, and will include discussions of new insights into immune protection against severe malaria; explore how clinical immunity against mild malaria develops over the course of repeated infections; highlight emerging data from the latest next generation vaccines trials; examine passive immunization approaches or drug administration to induce naturally acquired immunity to malaria; and integrate multiomics and modeling approaches to better understand both the natural development of immunity and the impact of interventions. The scientific focus of this conference directly addresses the need for innovative approaches to malaria prevention and treatment and will emphasize scientific discovery and new public health strategies for effective malaria control and prevention measures. Additionally, this meeting will serve as an educational forum to update researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers on the latest developments in malaria research.
