Focus Area: The Rural Health Network of Northwest North Carolina's focus is to expand behavioral health services in Surry and Wilkes counties in North Carolina and to coordinate care between between primary care and behavioral health services. Proposed Service Region: Alleghany, Ashe, Surry and Wilkes counties in North Carolina Population To Be Served: The behavioral health services administered through the proposed rural health network are intended to serve all residents of Alleghany, Ashe, Surry and Wilkes counties in North Carolina who receive healthcare and social services through the community health centers located in Alleghany, Ashe and Surry counties. More specifically, the intention of the rural health network is to increase and enhance behavioral health services to patients who are uninsured, underserved or are from historically marginalized populations. NCCHCA is the federally designated Primary Care Association for the state of North Carolina. CareNet Counseling has more than 50 years of experience providing behavioral health services to underserved populations. All three community health center sites are currently serving underserved populations in multiple counties and AppHealthCare also serves as the local health department for Alleghany and Ashe counties.
