Ryan White Title III HIV Capacity Development and Planning Grants - People with HIV presenting at Waikiki Health (WH) for dental care have higher oral health needs, more complex conditions, and greater oral oncology risks; all of which require more thorough screening, prevention, and treatment techniques to avert additional disease burden. WH will acquire a Cone Beam CT (CBCT) Imaging Machine and 3D printer for dental crowns with support from the RWHAP Part C Capacity Development Program. A CBCT provides detailed three-dimensional images of the bone and is performed to evaluate diseases of the jaw, dentition, bony structures of the face, nasal cavity, and sinuses. A CBCT would provide our clinicians with imaging data that will create more accurate treatment plans, expand diagnostic capabilities, provide data for in-house, 3D printed dental crowns within 90 minutes, and reduce outside referrals where patients may fall off the HIV care continuum. Furthermore, the CBCT would hasten prevention interventions by more fully assessing asymptomatic conditions in vulnerable populations.
