Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Enhancing Capacity for Sexual Violence Prevention in Arizona - Sexual violence (SV) is a pervasive public health crisis in Arizona, affecting marginalized communities at disproportionately high rates. The Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence (ACESDV) proposes a multifaceted approach to prevent and reduce SV incidence in rural, Indigenous, immigrant, and Spanish-speaking communities, addressing the underlying social and structural determinants of health (SDoH). Working with community partners and the Arizona Department of Public Health (AZDHS), ACESDV will utilize learning cohorts to disseminate new approaches in prevention and work to provide data for statewide decision-making. Drawing on statistics indicating the prevalence of SV in Arizona, particularly among marginalized populations, our project aims to build infrastructure, enhance collaboration with the state health department, implement prevention strategies, and utilize data to inform action. Our strategies include: Building infrastructure for SV prevention: ACESDV will enhance internal capacity, expand partnerships with key stakeholders including tribal entities, and participate in capacity-building activities to promote health equity and primary prevention of SV. Collaborating with SHD to enhance State Action Plan (SAP): ACESDV will engage in planning and collaboration meetings to enhance the State Action Plan, ensuring representation from underserved communities and guiding efforts to address disparate burdens of SV. Implementing SV prevention approaches: ACESDV will engage communities in designing solutions, improving organizational environments, and promoting social norms that protect against violence, focusing on evidence-based interventions tailored to community needs. Using data to inform action: ACESDV will collaborate with SHDs to gather and synthesize data, develop a data dashboard for SV indicators, and utilize data to track disparities, inform decision-making, and evaluate prevention efforts. Our work plan outlines specific objectives, activities, milestones, and outcomes to measure the effectiveness of our interventions. We aim to increase partner and community awareness, enhance coordination, and promote community-level implementation of SV prevention strategies. Through these efforts, we anticipate increased capacity, awareness, and collaboration among stakeholders, leading to tangible reductions in SV incidence and improvements in health equity across Arizona's marginalized communities.
