Box 405, Montpelier, VT 05601 Contact Phone Numbers: Voice 802-223-1302 ext 1112 Email Address: chani@vtnetwork.org Website Address: www.vtnetwork.org PURPOSE: The purpose of the proposed project is to prevent sexual harm perpetration and victimization by increasing protective factors, decreasing risk factors and addressing social determinants of health, through a public health approach that implements and evaluates equity-focused community and societal level strategies based on the best available evidence. OUTCOMES: Activities will accomplish the short-term outcomes and make progress toward intermediate and long-term outcomes from the NOFO, toward Vermont’s long-term goals of increased safety, equity and respect, and decreased sexual harm and sexual violence in Vermont for youth aged 12-18, especially youth of color, LBGTQ youth, youth with disabilities, youth living in poverty, as well as adults engaged with youth in these focus populations. SUMMARY: The Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (“the Network”) will enhance, expand, and strengthen primary sexual violence prevention efforts, address health inequities at the community and societal levels, and create meaningful engagement with the state health department, culturally specific organizations, and underserved communities. During the four year RPE Grant Program period, the Network will implement recommendations from the Vermont Network’s Coalition Capacity Assessment through the following: 1) Build internal program capacity to facilitate and monitor the implementation of sexual violence prevention efforts to build infrastructure for overall sexual violence prevention with an emphasis on youth engagement and leadership; 2) Leverage the Network’s equity-focused Coalition Capacity Assessment to inform ongoing implementation and evaluation of the RPE programming by building a four-year workplan to advance capacity assessment recommendations; 3) Collaborate with the Vermont Department of Health to enhance and implement Vermont’s State Action Plan 4) Foster and meaningfully engage multi-sector partners, such as membership organizations and representatives from underserved communities, to support implementation of state and community level sexual violence prevention strategies; 5) Identify, implement and adapt SV prevention strategies that advance health equity and reduce disparities in social determinants of health, 5.1) creating protective environments by a) advancing Tier 1-3 restorative practices and social emotional learning in Vermont schools; b) Developing and implementing a strategy to promote trauma-responsive, equity-focused policies and response protocols in educational settings; and c) Delivering Trainings of Trainers in Vermont’s Askable Adult Campaign Lesson Plan; and 5.2) Promoting social norms that protect against violence by a) expanding and delivering Vermont Askable Adult Campaign annual social media pushes and b) promulgating equity-focused comprehensive sexual health education; 6) Gather, synthesize and increase access to publicly available state- and community- level data annually that highlights inequities within the focus populations to inform SV prevention strategies; 7) Collaborate with the Vermont Department of Health (VDH) to utilize program evaluation and other available data to select and improve sexual violence prevention strategies; and 8) well as develop and implement an ongoing evaluation plan that ensures best practices for equity-centered evaluation are utilized.
