The CT Alliance to End Sexual Violence will use this funding opportunity to increase sexual violence prevention strategies & programs throughout the state of CT. - The Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence will use this funding opportunity to increase sexual violence prevention strategies and programs throughout the state of Connecticut; using a public health approach that addresses the social and structural determinants of health, the Alliance will prioritize preventing violence in communities that are disproportionately represented in sexual violence victimization data. Through this four-year funding opportunity, the Alliance will build infrastructure to support sexual violence prevention, enhance collaborations and partnerships, use data to inform prevention actions, and implement evidence-based community and societal level prevention strategies. The Alliance will build and strengthen our organizational capacity by funding a full-time Prevention Coordinator position, developing and publishing a multi-year, state-wide prevention plan in year 1, providing prevention-specific technical assistance to member centers to assist in developing community prevention plans, and hosting annual symposia to address the important role of advancing health equity in violence prevention efforts. The Alliance will provide an internal funding opportunity to our 9 member centers with the intent to fund 1 member center; the funded member center will implement prevention activities outlined in their prevention plans developed during this project period. The Alliance will provide comprehensive technical assistance and support evaluation efforts to assess impact at the communal and societal levels. The Alliance will strengthen existing collaborations and partnerships, and build new partnerships with underserved communities who are historically underserved in past sexual violence prevention efforts. These collaborative efforts will enhance The Alliance’s partnership with the CT Department of Public Health, and lead to a developed State Action Plan that outlines state-wide efforts to stop sexual violence before it happens. The Alliance will continue to convene an Advisory Board quarterly to provide updates on project deliverables, identify emerging trends, share data, and advance prevention projects that meaningfully respond to the needs of Connecticut communities. Throughout the project period, the Alliance will utilize data to make decisions about focus populations, evaluate the impact of the proposed activities, and assess opportunities to advance health equity. The Alliance will gather and compile publicly available data to inform our strategies and use evaluation efforts to improve prevention strategies throughout the project.
