TCEDSV DELTA Abstract This state coalition utilizes DELTA funding to prevent intimate partner violence through three strategic initiatives, as well as state action planning. The first initiative is to Engage Influential Adults and Peers through the use Bringing in the Bystander (BITB) intervention trainings on college campuses. One campus utilizes a variation of BITB called Upstander. The focus is on training Peer Educators who then train students in pro-social intervention behaviors to interrupt dating violence. Trainings also teach how to identify toxic cultural messages that perpetuate gender-based violence. Social marketing messaging also challenges toxic cultural norms and promotes the Upstander trainings. Evidence is reflecting that receiving the training from influential peers leads to students feeling more comfortable, more engaged, and having a higher sense of intrinsic motivation to stand against violence. The second initiative is to Create Protective Environments through training leadership staff, managers, and HR staff in recognizing and responding to intimate partner violence (IPV) in the workplace. The training highlights IPV costs to businesses, warning signs of IPV, and policy and procedural recommendations for creating safer workplaces. The third programmatic effort is to Strengthen Economic Supports for Families through the Financial Empowerment Initiative. This initiative focuses on training at-risk populations primarily in rural areas, as well as engaging with organizations that serve them, to recognize the warning sings of financial abuse. Trainings also equip people with basic financial empowerment skills such as budgeting, creating savings, and building credit. Additionally, this program partners with many community organizations and financial institutions to create access to financial wellbeing resources such as low barrier loans, credit rebuilding programs, second chance banking, etc. State Action Planning includes meeting with a State Leadership Team that acts a s a steering committee dedicated to planning for statewide growth in prevention efforts. An online data and programmatic resource inventory will highlight promising programs, success stories, available trainings, and vital data resources. Additionally, we are utilizing a statewide PSA campaign available on popular social media outlets targeting youth and young adults to promote pro-social bystander intervention behaviors and address toxic cultural norms. The state level planning work along with all three of the programmatic initiatives utilize evidence-based practices and center marginalized and unmet needs to create safer futures free from intimate partner violence.
