The District of Columbia Department of Health (DC Health) is requesting funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center Injury Prevention and Control to implement and evaluate sexual violence prevention programs, practices, and policies within the District of Columbia (DC). DC Health is committed to achieving the overall goal of promoting health equity, decreasing sexual perpetration and victimization rates and reducing disparities in sexual violence by addressing inequities in social and structural determinants of health. DC Health will accomplish this goal by utilizing a systems-level approach to improve the data infrastructure and data capacity to increase the reach and capacity of the DC Rape Prevention and Education Program. Increasing the RPE Program’s data capacity and infrastructure will allow DC Health to coordinate, implement and evaluate sexual violence prevention programs, practices, and policies within the District on a population health level and will deploy equitable approaches through programming and direct service supports for those communities most vulnerable to sexual violence due to social and structural factors.
