Arkansas Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) Program is dedicated to a comprehensive effort aimed at significantly reducing or eliminating sexual assault through primary prevention initiatives. This project centers on building internal program capacity to monitor and facilitate prevention programming, with a specific focus on addressing sexual violence through primary prevention. An essential dedication is made to reducing disparities in Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), promoting health equity, and ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all participants regardless of age, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, ability, or socioeconomic status.
Key components of this program involve ongoing training for staff members in sexual violence prevention, reinforcing an understanding of primary prevention and best practices. The initiative seeks to strengthen locally funded programs to implement sexual violence prevention strategies effectively, acknowledging the unique needs and challenges of diverse communities within the state.
An important goal is to strengthen the evaluation capabilities by engaging with an evaluator to monitor and track sexual violence data at both state and local levels. This will enable the utilization of data for continuous improvement in prevention strategies.
Moreover, the program strives to enhance collaboration and community mobilization among local programs, fostering inclusivity and participation from individuals of varied backgrounds and abilities. Collaborative efforts with key stakeholders, such as the Arkansas Commission Against Child Abuse, Rape, and Domestic Violence (ACCARDV), the Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ACASA), and local non-profits and community-based organizations, seeking to combine resources and expertise to actively confront and change societal norms that perpetuate and sustain violence.
The proposed strategies of the AR-RPE Program aim to prevent sexual violence among youths, adults, and people with disabilities across the state. Building strong relationships with ACCARDV and reinforcing the partnership with ACASA is central to this endeavor. The collaboration with the Commission’s (ACCARDV) Rape Committee, which comprises stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, is crucial in advising on sexual violence prevention strategies. The project remains dedicated in its commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders and local programs to challenge social norms that perpetuate violence, aiming towards a more equitable and violence-free society.
