RAPE PREVENTION AND EDUCATION - The Idaho Sexual Violence Prevention Program (SVP) intends to use the best available evidence to prevent sexual violence experience and perpetration in Idaho. By engaging with diverse stakeholders who represent organizations that address a multitude of risk factors of sexual violence (strengthening economic supports, creating protective environments, promoting social norms that protect against violence), SVP aims to implement intergenerational SV prevention strategies that span the social-ecological model. SVP will increase Idaho's Rape Prevention and Education Grant's capacity to track, measure, and inform strategy selection and implementation. The Idaho SVP Program will leverage diverse statewide, cross-sector partnerships to accomplish four strategies: Strategy 1: Build Infrastructure for SV Prevention Strategy 2: Develop a State Action Plan Strategy 3: Implement Strategy in three focus areas. Focus Area 1: Strengthen Economic Supports SVP takes an integrated approach to increase economic opportunities for vulnerable populations. Equal education, employment, and income opportunities are crucial for health, safety, and well-being. SVP has partnered with the McClure Center to create a comprehensive report on the economic disparities girls and women face in Idaho. Listening sessions have been conducted to gather personal experiences and solutions. Additional listening sessions will be held with priority populations, and an Economic Justice Landscape Analysis will be conducted to identify trends and gaps in microfinancing programs. Focus Area 2: Create Protective Environments SVP supports events and activities that bring communities together and prioritize under-resourced communities. Proposals are selected based on recommendations from community leaders and the guide "Community Connectedness: Recommendations for More Equitable Sexual Violence Prevention." Examples of activities include cultural events, youth-focused spaces, support for nonprofits and businesses, and promoting diverse participation. A database of events and activities will be created, and evaluation methods will be developed. Focus Area 3: Promote Social Norms That Protect Against Violence SVP addresses the root causes of violence and oppression by promoting positive social norms. ACEs are prevalent in Idaho, and prevention efforts are focused on community-level interventions. SVP participates in a workgroup to prevent ACEs and sexual violence. A protective factors survey will inform program work, identify social norms, and raise community awareness through a public education campaign. Evaluation methods will be developed to ensure equity. Strategy 4: Use Data to Inform Action Accomplishing these four strategies will lead to the Idaho SVP Program progressing toward the following outcomes: • Increased capacity to promote health equity. • Increased partner and community awareness of effective prevention strategies. • Increased partner coordination to prevent SV. • Increased community-level implementation of SV prevention strategies that reach high-burden communities and address social determinants of health • Using data to understand inequities and monitoring and evaluation activities related to SV prevention.
