Iowa's Rape Prevention and Education Program - The purpose of the Iowa Rape Prevention and Education program is to prevent the first time occurrence of sexual violence among Iowans 11 through 17 by addressing social factors which correlate to increased risk for perpetration. We are leveraging coalition building to increase our outcomes for reducing sexual violence perpetration and victimization through evidence based and community informed program implementation across the Social Ecological Model. Strategies and Approaches Increase sexual violence prevention infrastructure by developing state level processes to monitor prevention programming. Our primary mechanism for building sexual violence prevention infrastructure is through coalition building. We will implement sexual violence prevention strategies which address health inequities correlated to structural determinants of health and social determinants of health and increase community level data on risk and protective factors. Priority Populations Our priority populations are determined based on a hybrid of demographic and geographic data to maximize the concentration of resources and impact on addressing health inequities correlated to sexual violence victimization and perpetration in Iowa. Prevention Strategies Work with youth employers to create protective workplace environments focused on policy improvement which benefits youth exposed to social factors correlated to sexual violence perpetration Focus Area 1 Improving workplace policies impacting youth employees Focus Area 2 Reducing risk factors at a community level by creating protective workplace environments for youth Focus Area 3 Study community protective factors about gender based social norms to inform implementation of prevention strategies
