Nebraska Rape Prevention and Education - The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence, its network of sexual assault programs, and community partners will continue to work in collaboration to build infrastructure for sexual violence prevention, to develop/enhance a State Action Plan, to implement sexual violence prevention strategies that increase health equity with a focus on implementation at the community and societal levels, and to use evaluation data to improve sexual violence prevention strategy implementation. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the Coalition, and its network of sexual assault programs have a strong history of collaboration to select and implement comprehensive sexual violence prevention programs across Nebraska. Nebraska will use a tiered structure to fund and guide several local sexual assault programs through applying a public health approach to sexual violence prevention, with collecting data and conducting a community needs assessment being the first step to developing local-level strategies, and emphasizing coalition building and community mobilization. The Coalition will provide additional training to sexual assault programs on primary sexual violence prevention and health equity training topics throughout the grant cycle. The long-term outcomes of the Nebraska Rape Prevention and Education grant program include a decrease in rates of sexual violence, particularly in communities disproportionately burdened with high rates of sexual violence; a decrease in rates of sexual violence perpetration and victimization at the state level; and to reduce inequities that impact disparities in sexual violence rates.
