FY 2024 Rape Prevention and Education Funding OpportunityCDC-RFA-A-CE-24-0027 - If awarded these funds, Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services Violence Prevention Program will pass them through to the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault who will in turn pass them through to six community-based sexual assault support centers. Over the five years of the NOFO, Maine’s DHHS VPP and MECASA will operate as partners in efforts to build infrastructure for SV prevention; develop/enhance a state/territory action plan; implement community- and societal-level SV prevention strategies that promote health equity; and utilize data to inform action. It is anticipated that the proposed activities will lead to increased capacity to promote health equity, implement/evaluate SV prevention at the community- and societal levels, increase partner and community awareness of effective prevention strategies, and increase partner coordination to prevent SV. The proposed activities will also increase community-level implementation of SV prevention strategies that reach high-burden communities in Maine and address social determinants of health (SDOH), using data to understand inequities and monitoring and evaluation activities related to SV prevention. Maine’s DHHS VPP and MECASA will collaborate to achieve all the outcomes outlined in the NOFO, both short-term (over the course of the first two years) and intermediate (over the course of the third through fifth year); details of the planned strategies and activities to do so are included in the work plan. Intended long term outcomes are also identified in the workplan although we do not expect to achieve them within the project period. Activities will be implemented using a public health approach and will align with the intended short-term, intermediate and long-term outcomes.
