Coalition's Capacity Assessment for Prevention (CCAP) - The Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) is the federally recognized state sexual assault coalition in Maryland working to prevent and respond to sexual violence statewide. MCASA currently receives Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) funding through the Maryland Department of Health to conduct educational seminars and training programs for professionals, prepare informational materials, lead education and training programs for students and campus personnel designed to reduce the incidence of sexual assault at colleges and universities, and capacity-building for Rape Crisis and Recovery Centers and other stakeholders in Maryland. MCASA also utilizes RPE funds to advance our community and societal level prevention efforts through our Create Protective Environments by Improving Safety and Monitoring in Maryland Colleges and Schools strategy. MCASA has been working to expand our prevention programming for underserved populations, and incorporate health equity and other society and community level prevention efforts over the last few years. This additional funding opportunity, Rape Prevention and Education: Assessing Coalition Capacity to Advance Primary Prevention, will provide the opportunity for MCASA to thoroughly assess our capacity to do this work and provide recommendations for moving forward with prevention programming that impacts health equity. MCASA will use a Primary Prevention Capacity Assessment to examine our current sexual violence prevention efforts and assess our capacity for sexual violence prevention work. Using the data from this assessment, MCASA will develop recommendations and action steps to advance sexual violence primary prevention activities that also address health inequities. MCASA is expecting to see short-term outcomes from this project. As outlined in the CDC logic model, short-term outcomes for this project are: ● Increased understanding of staff expertise and available resources within MCASA and its core member programs ● Increased understanding of available data sources used to identify population(s) and communities of focus in Maryland ● Increased understanding of current partnerships, and how these partnerships are/are not meeting the current and future primary prevention and health equity work needs ● Increased understanding of current technical assistance provision and how well it incorporates health equity
