Prevention Resources & Outreach Assessment (PROA) Project - The Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault & Family Violence (GCASAFV) proposes to champion primary prevention to reduce the prevalence of sexual violence on Guam through its Prevention Resources & Outreach Assessment (PROA) Project. 'Proa' is also the term for the traditional sailing outrigger boats of the indigenous people of the Guam and the Northern Marianas, the CHamoru. With this PROA Project, GCASAFV will navigate the island's largely Asian-Pacific Island (API)community, engage GCASAFV's member programs, community partners, and stakeholders, and facilitate listening sessions with GCASAFV's Community Action (CA) Teams to develop recommendations and action plan to advance sexual violence prevention activities and foster safe, healthy, and violence-free communities. All too often the community's response to sexual violence is reactionary and and prevention efforts are shortchanged. GCASAFV is committed to enhance its own resources through training and community outreach and CA Teams, representing targeted communities -- youth and families, young adults, elderly, persons with disabilities, API, men, and LGBTQ.
