West Anniston Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program - The West Anniston Foundation proposes the West Anniston Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention program that will be administered in partnership with the establishment of a Lead Poisoning and Prevention Coalition comprised of trusted community members trained as Community Health Workers. The program is seeking to utilize awarded funds for the training of trusted community members as Community Health Workers to implement the EPA's Lead Awareness Curriculum to address household and community lead exposure prevention among young children. The program seeks to improve knowledge of sources of household lead exposure and prevention methods at the community and individual level. Additionally, the program seeks to build additional partnerships with stakeholders and community members to develop solutions to address environmental issues in the community. The long-term outcomes for the program include reduction in risk for exposure to lead in the environmentally justice impacted West Anniston community, increased community partnerships and reduction in adverse consequences to lead exposure for young children.
