The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is committed to maintaining an emergency response system designed to achieve maximum state and local level public health and medical system readiness across Oklahoma. Since 2001 OSDH has utilized emergency preparedness funding to develop an integrated emergency response system that spans the local, regional, and state level. The foundation of this system is built on joint planning with public, private and tribal response partners. Whenever possible, available resources are leveraged to maximize achievement of target capabilities, and a comprehensive training and exercise program is maintained to test and enhance emergency response plans and capabilities at the local, regional and state level. This funding opportunity will provide critical funds to further advance Oklahoma’s public health and medical system emergency response capabilities during times of significant public health threats. Oklahoma will utilize these funds to respond to significant public health emergencies by funding public health response activities related to; community resilience, incident management, information management, countermeasures and mitigation, surge management, and biosurveillance. Efforts carried out under this funding opportunity will help strengthen response capabilities and assist in preventing or reducing morbidity and mortality related to incidents that stress the public health and medical system.
