This PHEP application for Nevada is for the continued purpose of strengthening and enhancing the capabilities of state, local, and tribal public health systems to respond effectively (mitigate the loss of life and reduce the threats to the community’s health and safety) to evolving threats and other emergencies within Nevada. This announcement provides clear expectations and priorities for Nevada to enhance the readiness of the public health system to save lives during emergencies that exceed the day-to-day capacity and capability of the public health emergency response system. This application aims to provide funds to ensure that Nevada and our PHEP subgrantees focus on activities to continue toward meeting the goals of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities: National Standards for State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Public Health. Additionally, our application aims to document progress in establishing or maintaining ready public health response systems with strong disease surveillance, detecting and reporting capabilities to ensure that Nevada and our PHEP subgrantees continue to advance the development of effective public health emergency management and response programs for all-hazard events while coordinating with our healthcare coalition partners. Nevada has developed a Five Year Strategic Plan that includes strategies and activities based on the PHEP Logic Model and Domains, and findings from our jurisdictional risk assessments, capability planning guide self-assessments, and exercise and incident after-action reports to inform our strategic priorities and preparedness investments. Nevada plans to publish a revised PHEP 5-Year Strategic Plan with all PHEP partners in Winter 2020.
