The Fort Worth ISD has strategically designed strategies to effectively improve Health and Media Literacy, Cultural Responsiveness & Racial Literacy Training as well as identifying how policy and practice can support health equity. Through teacher and staff training, foundational principles of health equity can be learned and reflected upon to support the initiation of intentional health equity awareness and response. For students, health and media literacy expanded topics will support skills-based acquisition of learning to equip students to intelligently support their safety and the safety of others. Additionally, parents will also learn about health and media literacy so that they too can monitor and support their children to practice safety while utilizing social media platforms and to understand the commonalities between safe and unsafe sites. The HPE department will continue it's work in cultural responsiveness and racial literacy training and include training on the HEAT while providing professional development opportunities for teachers to be empowered to provide inclusive and diverse rich educational environments where all students strive and belong.
