The LDOE School Surveillance Project will address CDC-RFA-PS 18-1807 Promoting Adolescent Health through School-Based HIV Prevention, Component I: School Based Surveillance. The purpose of the LDOE School Surveillance Project is to establish and strengthen systematic procedures to collect, analyze and disseminate data from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (RBS) and School Health Profiles (Profiles) data. At the end of the five year grant period, the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) and the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) will have an increased understanding of youth risk behaviors and school health policies. This objective will be accomplished through the implementation of the Required Activities for the YRBS and Profiles as stated in the CDC-RFA-PS 18-1807 Promoting Adolescent Health through School-Based HIV Prevention for Component I: School Based Surveillance. All activities will be accomplished within the parameters outlines in the Handbook for Conducting Youth Risk Behavior Surveys and the Handbook for Conducting School Health Profiles for the respective surveys. The results of each survey will be disseminated to state/regional state agency personnel, LEAs, families, and community members to help target and improve interventions, establish funding priorities, and support the development of policies and practices to reduce priority health risk behaviors among youth.
