The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) proposes to conduct the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and School Health Profiles (Profiles) and to distribute results to stakeholders statewide. DESE’s administration involves a collaboration with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) - Division of Community and Public Health to support YRBS implementation, including technical assistance to participating schools per CDC’s protocols. The DESE-DHSS partnership for YRBS has been in place since 2013 and has achieved the recruitment sample of schools and students. DHSS experts in epidemiology and analytics will lead data analysis, visualization, and dissemination strategy for YRBS. DESE will distribute reports, coordinate conference presentations, and host webinars to inform stakeholders about the YRBS project and share results. The administration of Profiles is led by DESE and its contractor (Open Health LLC), which has managed data collection per standard protocols for three consecutive cycles. DESE will establish plans to achieve the target response rates for principals and health education teachers through a web-based survey format, coordinated outreach, email reminders, technical assistance, and incentives. DHSS experts will be responsible for data analysis and visualization of Profiles data; DESE will lead dissemination of results in coordination with government agencies, non-profits, and stakeholders focused on school health policies, practices and curriculum. The activities of YRBS and Profiles are managed by the director of DESE’s Missouri Healthy Schools, a CDC-funded program under DP-23-0002.
