Mazzoni Center PS22-2203 Abstract
With funds from PS22-2203, Mazzoni Center and the Attic Youth Center will enhance and expand existing high impact community-based prevention programming for YMSM POC to create and maintain a Collective Impact Program, the PhRESH (Philadelphia Resources & Empowerment for Sexual Health) Network. This initiative will leverage local community members,’ CBO, business, and other institutions’ individual expertise to engage young BIPOC MSM, promote safe spaces, and provide YMSM POCHIV and other STI testing, treatment, and status neutral prevention services.
Mazzoni Center’s proposed programming is consistent with the goals of Healthy People 2030, the federal and local Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative (EHE), and the National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States. The following are Mazzoni Center’s proposed outcomes, in alignment with the three EHE pillars of Diagnose, Treat and Prevent:
• Increase HIV testing in YMSM POC
• Increase diagnosis of YMSM POC in Philadelphia who are aware of their HIV status
• Increase the number of YMSM POC in Philadelphia who receive integrated STD screenings
• Increase the receipt of HIV medical care and immediate access to ART among YMSM POC newly diagnosed HIV and previously diagnosed, not in care.
• Maintain HIV positive YMSM POC in medical care and adherent to medication so that they can achieve viral suppression, maintain their health, and reduce the chances of further transmission
• Increase access to Partner services for newly diagnosed and previously diagnosed, not in care young MSM of color
• Increase access to status neutral prevention and essential services for persons regardless of HIV status including linkages to HIV care, PrEP and nPEP for young MSM POC
• Increase the availability of condoms
• Increase awareness of HIV risk and access to rapid HIV testing for YMSM POC in Philadelphia
Mazzoni Center previously provided community-based targeted HIV testing, integrated STI screenings, linkage to care, program promotion and outreach and condom distribution with CDC funds under PS15-1502. We seek to resume, refocus, enhance, and expand those services under this NOFO.
