GMHC Project Allow Comprehensive HIV Prevention Services for Young Men of Color Who Have Sex with Men in New York City - In response to the disproportionate effects of HIV on communities of color, GMHC proposes to implement Project Allow, a high-impact HIV prevention project targeting young men who have sex with men (YMSM) of color who are HIV-positive, HIV-negative or have an unknown status. GMHC?s proposed program will engage African-American and Hispanic MSM aged 13-29 using innovative, culturally-sensitive and coordinated strategies intended to reduce disparities in HIV health outcomes, reduce HIV transmission rates, and reduce HIV-related morbidity and mortality in these populations. Informed by the New York State Jurisdictional HIV Prevention Plan and the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, GMHC will use culturally-sensitive and youth-informed outreach strategies to engage all segments of the target population in HIV testing, integrated STI/HCV screenings, and high-impact prevention interventions and connect them to essential support services internally at GMHC and externally at partner organizations. GMHC proposes to use the ARTAS linkage-to-care model to link HIV-positive YMSM to medical care, implement the CLEAR intervention for clients living with HIV, and Many Men Many Voices and VOICES/VOCES interventions for HIV-negative YMSM. Over the five-year project period, GMHC expects that the proposed program will achieve the following long-term outcomes: Reduce HIV transmission from individuals living with HIV/AIDS; Increase the number of HIV-positive YMSM of color with suppressed viral load; Reduce HIV incidence among high-risk negative YMSM of color; Increase the number of YMSM of color referred to PrEP/nPEP; Increase/Improve HIV-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors among YMSM who are living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS.
