STD/HIV Prevention Training Center at Johns Hopkins, PS20-2004SUPP05 The National Network of Sexually Transmitted Diseases Clinical Prevention Training Centers (NNPTC) Program Supplement - In 2018, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a surge in STIs for the fifth consecutive year, reaching an all-time high. An alarming increase in both gonorrhea and syphilis continues among men who have sex with men (MSM) and syphilis rates are climbing among people using drugs, especially women. Superimposed on this increasing incidence of STIs is the threat of the increasing global prevalence of drug- resistant gonorrhea that has the potential to become a major health crisis in the United States. For almost 40 consecutive years, the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)/Human Immunodeficiency (HIV) Prevention Training Center at Johns Hopkins (PTC) has developed and disseminated multi-modal trainings (T) and technical assistance (TA) to providers, clinical sites, health departments (HD), and healthcare systems to improve the diagnosis, management, treatment and counseling of individuals with and at-risk for STIs and HIV(4). Such T/TA is needed now more than ever. We propose to build and expand on our established collaborations with our subject matter experts (SME), the CDC, our prevention and control health department (PCHD) partners, and our partnerships with other training centers and members of the National Network of STD Prevention Training Centers (NNPTC) community to provide dynamic and tailored responses to STD training identified needs through various requested venues (i.e. face-to-face trainings, experiential trainings, webinars, Zoom meetings, teleconferences, training of trainers). We aim to improve STI diagnoses, treatment and counseling services with the ultimate goal to decrease STI morbidity and mortality rates within our training area and ultimately within the U.S. We propose to: *Increase provider knowledge, skills and expertise to provide quality STI clinical preventive services to at-risk populations and in doing so, decrease transmission of STIs in the US. • Identify service gaps and TA needs with our STD PCHD partners and continue to target innovative and practical trainings to address rising STI rates in general and among specific populations at-risk • Establish tailored, vibrant and interactive learning communities with our STD PCHD partners, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), HIV care centers and other health systems and key stakeholders who provide STI and HIV prevention services. • Create and maintain a list of STD specialty clinics within our training region and work with them to identify and close service gaps, streamline and enhance culturally-competent screening and prevention services, improve treatment and better promote disease control. • Ensure each of our core faculty members continue to participate in the STD Clinical Consultation Network. We will aggressively promote the STD CCN and NNPTC newsletter through face-to-face flyer distribution particularly during HD detailing visits, by embedding access information in all trainings, by distributing information at collaborator regional, state and local meetings, and by posting links on our collaborator websites to economize on timely delivery of current information. In this way, we propose to increase our queries from each State and jurisdiction. • We will continue to collaborate with the national STD centers (National STD PTC Coordination Center [NPTC3] and the National STD Curriculum Center [NSTDC]) to optimize evaluation and performance measurement processes and contribute to the NNPTC newsletter and the development of updated national online curriculum and distance learning products. *Mentor at least three STD specialty clinic medical directors, clinic champions and STD PCHD appointed individuals each year and assist in assessing the provision of quality, culturally-informed STD and HIV preventive services, as well as work together to improve quality care per new STD clinical service guidelines
