Supporting an informed network of strategic community partners to improve asthma among high-burden populations through coordinated dissemination and evaluation of CDC EXHALE across the United States. - The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research. The purpose of the Promoting Asthma Friendly Environments through Partnerships (Asthma Friendly Environments) project is to support an informed network of strategic community partners to improve asthma among high-burden populations through coordinated dissemination and evaluation of CDC EXHALE across the United States. Target audiences for this project include organizations with access to high-burden populations, people with asthma and their families, asthma care providers, and decision makers. The goals of this project are to: 1) increase the implementation of EXHALE strategies by engaging strategic community partners to disseminate messages and effective interventions; 2) increase the number of people that live, work, or go to school in asthma friendly environments by providing training, technical assistance and resources; and 3) help advance the CDC Controlling Childhood Asthma Reducing Emergencies (CCARE) goal of preventing 500,000 hospitalization and emergency department visits among children with asthma. This project is designed to use a coordinated, comprehensive approach outlined in the CDC EXHALE technical package to improve asthma control in all age groups by engaging a network of strategic community partners to increase knowledge and adoption of evidence-based strategies that improve asthma morbidity and mortality.
