BRFSS FEDERAL FUNDING FOR PENNSYLVANIA - Abstract Pennsylvania Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System The Pennsylvania Health Informatics Office, Department of Health, administers the Pennsylvania Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) to provide information needed by both governmental and private programs providing public health services in the Commonwealth. The resident population of Pennsylvania 18 years of age and older having access to either land line telephones or cell phones is reached by probability sampling. The survey is sponsored and supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and conducted in every state and territory of the United States. The survey content includes race/ethnicity, gender, income, education, employment, age, marital status, and disability, which allow estimates for major risk populations. The content includes chronic disease diagnoses and behavior related to health such as use of tobacco, alcohol, diet, exercise, and use of health screening services. Access to health care is also assessed. Estimates based on these data provide a very useful guide to the location and level of need for preventive health services in the Commonwealth. These estimates are made available through an interactive data delivery system (https://www.phaim1.health.pa.gov/EDD/) and an annual interactive report. https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/HealthStatistics/BehavioralStatistics/BehavioralRiskPAAdults/ Pages/BehavioralRisksPAAdults.aspx.
